Dream Bay Resort Wedding {Erin & Nicolai}

Erin & Nicolai’s Dream Bay Resort wedding was as dreamy as the evening’s sunset! These two were a dream of a duo to work with. (Yes, I know I always say that. 😉 but I really am so blessed with the very best couples!). They shared their day with loved ones including their 2 kiddos, Conner and Tati. Tati celebrated in true party animal form—she was sound asleep in Erin’s sling by the end of the night, snoozing as Mama danced and mingled. The day brought high winds, but an unforgettable sky above—perfectly capturing their exciting yet peaceful and comforting love story. It was a wonderful blending of cultures. To lead us through their story, beautiful and thoughtful bride Erin herself shares all the details below!

How did you two meet?

“Ahhhh, there are so many parts to the story, but it’s 100%: right place at the right time. I was working at a beach bar when Nicolai and his friends came by for the day. The forecast wrongly predicted rain, so it was a VERY slow day. I had time to chat/joke and get to know him.”

What made you choose a Florida Keys wedding?

“We love to travel and both just knew we wanted a destination wedding. With Nicolai being from Denmark, it also made sense to us since his family and friends already had to travel. We might as well invite them somewhere fun and warm.”

What overall vibe were you hoping for on your Dream Bay Resort Wedding day?

“Happy and relaxed. A no worries vibe.  I feel that every single person had travel issues getting there that week, and I was just so happy that no one gave up. I truly have good memories with every single guest from that weekend. It wouldn’t have been the same without them. Dream Bay was the PERFECT location to host the weekend/wedding. It helped us achieve our vibe. We had events planned, but it was more or less an open door policy. Our guests were able to come and go as they pleased. On Thursday, our family got together on site at night for a welcome dinner, and on Friday, we invited anyone who was around to come over instead of a traditional rehearsal dinner. Saturday morning, we hosted beach yoga. Saturday evening was the wedding. And Sunday, we had a Farewell Brunch where everyone came over for breakfast, and just hung out until they had to depart back home.”

What was the most memorable moment of your day?

“I cannot choose. Walking down the aisle to Nicolai and my son waiting for me, to ALL of the wedding guests partaking in all the Danish traditions (which there were many), to just seeing everyone laugh and dance and have a good time. It’s true what they say – so much of the day/night is a blur. But when I think back, it’s all the smiling and laughing faces of our friends and family that truly stuck with me most.”

Any words of wisdom to the soon-to-be-wed?

“Hire a planner. 100%. They know the vendors and the area best. They can make a MUCH better timeline for the day. And do you REALLY want to be setting up/taking down all the decorations on your wedding day? No way. Hire a planner. It eliminates so much stress. And if there were issues on my wedding day, I didn’t know it, because Olivia and her Frond + Feather team kept them from me. Her vendor recommendations were top notch. The food was amazing and the flowers were amazing. My hair and makeup was exactly as I wanted. And photography captured memories I will cherish forever.”
